Prayer for our Country
in the Coming May 10, 2010 Elections
Lord, this is the land of my birth, the land I love.
I am part of it and part of its people.
You made this land and gave it to us.
Rule among our people so that we may never misuse and waste Your gift through our selfishness, greed and worldly outlook and values.
In the coming elections, enable all of us Filipinos to vote for the candidates each one considers as the fittest to be elected into the office they are running for.
Grant victory in the elections only to those candidates after Your own heart --- sincere, honest, God-loving, and courageous to follow Your will and Your teachings in all aspects of their lives, both public and private.
Yet at the same time, enable them, Lord, to be truly willing and capable to lead our nation and all our people to work together in peace and harmony with each other and achieve great things together in Your Name, and proclaim Your power, majesty and glory throughout the entire world.
Rule us through them and constantly guide them and empower them in Your ways of justice, peace and progress.
Make me and every Filipino realize that we are called to spread the Good News not only among ourselves but also throughout the whole world and we have to act out our calling.
So grant us the blessing of having the leaders who will lead us in that calling and pour out on us the grace we need to grow in faith, in hope, and in love to become Your faithful witnesses.
All this we ask in the most powerful Name of our King, Your Son and Our Savior, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, One God, now, always, and forever!
Amen.
